We all have to admit that the new narrative of love stories changed to “I swiped right” only after the smartphones took over the world. We’re not saying there’s anything wrong about meeting your Mr. or Ms. Right on an app or an online portal. But you’ve got to agree that there’s an entirely different charm to an IRL fairytale love story when compared to a love story that found its origins on an app.
It’s all true. Fairytales do come true, even today. We’ve even got proof peeps. We asked some of the most adorable love birds around us, who have been sharing life with each other for quite some time now, to share their moment of love. You know, their Jab We Met (how we met) stories. We are so sure that after reading this lovely article, even the most cynical of the singles out there are going turn into firm cupid believers.
From bumping into each other on the streets to a childhood crush blooming into something more, let’s read how these couples found love for a lifetime and how their love continues to sparkle even after all these years.
1. “We Bullied Each Other Into Love”
That’s exactly what Saumya and her husband Vivek had to say. They were in the same college but were enrolled in different courses. They met at a mutual friend’s birthday party. He passed a comment on her “always-in-control” nature. And the next few days saw them leaving no stone unturned in getting back at each other. Finally, after a week, they happened to call a truce and decided to be friends. Both of them had no idea that in the next couple of months they’d find “Ishq-wala love”, which has been going strong for almost a decade now. They are even happily married now!
2. “My Wife And I Met Online 20 Years Ago When Online Dating Was In Its Infancy”
Nope! Rachael and Sam aren’t talking about any social media site here. They fell in love over emails. Frequent emails lead to the exchanging of their phone numbers. Soon, they met and went on an actual date. For them, love happened online. It’s been 20 years now, they are happily married and they say that both of their lives revolve around their 3-year old daughter. Sam says, “I think that through our daughter I get to experience how Rachael must have been in her childhood. It’s surreal if you know what I mean.”
3. “We Fell In Love With Each Other’s Poetry First”
Can you imagine how beautiful it would be for two people to fall in love with the harmony of each other’s words? That’s exactly what happened between Sneha and Rahul, two poets who met at a poetry event in their city. They just couldn’t take their eyes off each other after listening to each other’s poems. It’s been two and a half years now, and they are still very much head over heels in love with each other’s poetry and the soul behind those beautiful words.
4. “I Met My Boyfriend Of 5 Years While On A Train Journey To Mumbai”
The mention of Mumbai immediately makes us think of Bollywood, doesn’t it? This is what Madhuri had to tell about her Bollywood-ish love story to us, “I’d missed my flight to Mumbai, and had to take a train to reach my destination. I was dreading the fact that instead of a 3-hour journey I’ll now have to travel for 12 hours straight (yes, I was annoyed at myself). As soon as I entered the train and headed towards my seat, I saw him, the man who would eventually be my “the one”. He was wearing these round glasses which might have looked nerdy to others but to me, it made for the cutest accessory (facepalm). His seat was adjacent to mine. It was me who made the first move by going and introducing myself. We hit it off instantly. We talked the entire night. We exchanged numbers. And even before we knew it, we were madly in love and became a couple much to the delight of all our near and dear ones.
5. “It Started With Wanderlust Which Later On Turned Into Wander Love”
Dhruv and Kajol met each other in a youth hostel on the foothills of the Himalayas. They had planned to explore the mountains solo, but bonding over a hot bowl of Maggi in the night made them head out on this adventure together. They trekked, and explored the local tourist spots, not to forget the local eateries. And in the process, they fell in love. “I wouldn’t ask for a better life partner than her. She is so perfect!” says Dhruv, beaming with pride.
We couldn’t help but admit to the fact that it’s indeed true love, love has no language, no boundaries, and if it’s meant to happen, it surely will. What your Jab We Met story? Let us know in the comments below.
